Stromberg Carlson Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Volvo XC60

Today on this 2016 Volvo XC60, we're going to be test fitting the 23 by 60 Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier, part number CC-100. This has a 500-lb weight capacity and as you look at the grates here at the bottom, it makes it much easier to clean like this, plus it has these tie down points all around the border of the cargo carrier which you can use to secure your cargo as you drive. Next I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements, first starting with how much distance is added to the vehicle once your cargo carrier is installed. If I measure from the bumper to this point here, we've added about 24-1/2". The ground clearance to about here, that's going to be about 10", and our closest point to the bumper, right about here, it's right at 1-1/2". This does have a dual exhaust, I'm going to go ahead and give you that measurement real quick as well, it's going to be about 3-1/2" from the cargo carrier. You want to keep that in mind because any heat sensitive material you have you may want to keep away from the exhaust ports on either side. With nothing in the cargo carrier, of course we have complete full access to the rear hatch of our vehicle, however, I'm going to go ahead and give you the break-over point measurement which is going to be the point where the hatch here will come into contact with whatever you have loaded up in your cargo carrier. more
